New cabinet must show it’s not deaf, dumb and blind, says Kit Siang
As the new cabinet line-up meet today, Lim Kit Siang said they should not become a “kafir harbi” (warring infidel) cabinet, nor should they act deaf, dumb and blind.
“The first job of the reshuffled Cabinet is to prove that the Ministers of the Najib Cabinet 3.0 after the 13GE is not a ‘kafir harbi’ Cabinet or like the traditional three monkeys, with eyes that see not, ears that hear not and mouths that speak not,” said the veteran politician, referring to the term used to describe DAP by a state mufti recently.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on Monday announced his third cabinet reshuffle since assuming office.
Lim, however, said the new line-up was a disappointment for not separating the Prime Minister’s Office from the finance portfolio.
Najib is also currently the finance minister, a practice in place since the late nineties.
Lim said the cabinet is still oversized, and was a slap to Sarawak despite giving Barisan Nasional a landslide victory there recently.
He said there were also “half past six” ministers being promoted.
“The calibre and placement of the Ministers and Deputy Ministers in Najib’s Cabinet 3.0 do not give ground for inspiration or hope – especially with the move of the Barisan Nasional Strategic Communications Director, Abdul Rahman Dahlan, whose only political contribution so far are his disastrous ‘black’ operations in the various media to defend the Prime Minister from his mega scandals by orchestrating baseless attacks against Najib’s critics and opponents from the Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government to the only important Ministry in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of Economic Planning Unit,” he added.
