Barisan Nasional’s (BN) candidate for the Sungai Besar by-election, Budiman Mohd Zohdi, said the cooperation between Umno and Pas, and the crisis between Pas and Amanah, will work in BN’s favour.
He also expressed confidence that the choice of Meru assemblyman Dr Abdul Rani Osman as the Pas candidate for the parliamentary constituency would translate into votes for BN.
He said Pas members who disagree with the close ties between Umno and Pas would cast protest votes in BN’s favour.
Similarly, voters and former Pas members opposed to DAP’s backing for the Amanah candidate would also back BN.
“As for DAP supporters, the private member’s bill tabled by Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang in parliament will affect Chinese voters’ trust in Pas and Amanah as both advocate the struggle to establish Islam.
“Issues such as the Umno-Pas cooperation and the Pas-Amanah crisis allow voters in this constituency to reevaluate their voting patterns,” Budiman told Malaysia Dateline.
The Sungai Panjang assemblyman said voters can judge his works as a state representative in the last three years.
He said voters in Sekinchan, a state seat held by DAP, are also familiar with him.
“Politics is about serving, and alhamdulillah, there have been positive feedback on my service from the people including the Chinese and Indian communities.
“The Chinese call me YB Aman,” he said, expressing confidence of a big win for BN come polling day.
