YDP Agong, please meet The Tamat Darurat Committee immediately

Malaysia is now an autocratic state, following the suspension of democracy through the simultaneous Proclamation of Emergency and the suspension of Parliament.

Such autocratic power, if fallen into the wrong hands, could mean disaster to the nation, especially during an unprecedented twin pandemic and economic crisis like now.

The relevant statistics speak for themselves. During the 4-month emergency rule, both the pandemic and death rates have skyrocketed by leaps and bounds while our vaccination program continues to crawl at the cradle stage.

The incompetence of the Perikatan Nasional government is self-evident.

With the people shut off from legal means to redress the situation due to the suspension of democracy, the rakyat can only look to the Agong for help.

He could at least exercise his prerogative to re-convene Parliament as provided under Section 14(1)(b) of the Emergency (Essenial Powers) Ordinance 2021, and that would revive democracy so that the entire nation could participate in seeking a solution to alleviate the current crisis.

It has been one month since the Agong promised to meet the opposition on the emergency and suspension of parliament issues, and I hope he would see the importance of this meeting as a crucial step towards resolving the crisis and grant an audience soonest.
